Brattle Senior Consultant Pablo Ruiz presented on power flow control technologies at the IEEE Power and Energy Society (PES) Transmission & Distribution (T&D) conference and expo, taking place April 16-19, 2018 in Denver, CO.

The conference showcases the solutions, technologies, products, companies, and minds that will lead our industry to the next generation of power systems. This year’s technical program highlighted the future while focusing on challenges that have been solved to achieve the current state of the power and energy industry.

Dr. Ruiz participated in the panel session, “Economic and Reliability Benefits of Power Flow Control Technologies: Hardware and Software.” The panel discussed how manufacturers, software vendors, and system operators are evaluating ways to incorporate power flow control technologies into the bulk power system and the potential benefits that they can provide. These technologies can be used to reduce transmission network congestion and potentially save billions of dollars, as well as improve power system reliability without necessarily needing any additional transmission capability built.
